Hello world!
I'm tentatively embarking into the world of blogging.. hopefully my blog will include arty things like beauty/fashion/music, but also the occasional science-y post because I am (as the title would suggest) a nerd in lots of different areas ..!
First off I have a few undiscovered gems from the eye makeup world to share with you. Some of the things I mention in the future might be better suited to pale skin (because I am verging on paper-colour myself..) but these could suit pretty much anybody.
1. Collection 2000 XXL Volume Sensation Mascara.

1. Collection 2000 XXL Volume Sensation Mascara.
I'm embarrassed to say I was originally drawn by the packaging..which isn't the most sophisticated in the world, but quite fun to have. Mine is in 'Ultra Black'. There is also another shade available…. 'Black'. This might be the brand's attempt at humour…I'm not sure. Stick to the day job, guys.
Sorry for the funky angle, I was trying to capture the long-ness of my newly mascared (no, autocorrect, not *massacred) eyelashes :D
2. The second product I'm wearing in the picture above, along with the mascara and Urban Decay's Flipside (which is nowhere near as good!) is Barry M's Fine Glitter Dust in Denim. I know the Barry M Dazzle Dusts aren't unappreciated..but the Glitter Dusts are relatively new, and some of them are stunning.
Denim is SO SO SO beautiful. It's a mid-tone blue, with an iridescent turquoise glitter - which only shows up subtly, it doesn't give you the kicked-in-the-face-by-a-unicorn look. They cost £4.50 each, but Boots or Superdrug often have 3 for 2 offers; so I think they're worth it. Here's a picture so you can judge for yourself..
The pigmentation is fabulous, and because it's loose you can mix it with water to give an even brighter look. I've worn this as a liquid-eyeliner using an eyeliner brush and some water, which works really well :)
**A word of caution - check the underside of these Glitter Dusts before buying. I bought another one at the same time, in the shade 'Crimson/Pink'; and only realised later that it said 'Not For Use Around The Eyes'!! However the majority of the shades are, including this one; so don't worry too much.
3. My third and final undiscovered gem… Glam Crystal Gel Eyeliners from Collection 2000.

These are only £2.99 and they are A-MAZING. The colours especially are beautiful - the blue one, named 'POW!'; is a blue gel with blue and orange glitter suspended in it, giving it a real depth similar to that found in some Urban Decay liquid liners. The silver one, 'Hustle', has silver iridescent glitter in a purple/grey gel, and that one is equally close to my heart. The orange 'Retro Chic' is less of a favourite, since it consists purely of a clear gel with orange glitter. All apply easily and last forever :)
Just as if you weren't already persuaded… :D
I really feel like I should mention the rest of Collection 2000, seeing as I've mentioned two of their products. They are found generally in Boots and Superdrug (in the UK) and online.
However…
The rest of their range that I've purchased have been genuinely and abysmally awful. The eyeshadows had no pigmentation, and the nail varnishes chipped after only a day. So whilst their gel liners and mascaras are amazing, they really are a hit-and-miss range. Don't say I didn't warn you! They are fairly inexpensive though, so at least a disastrous purchase won't bankrupt you.
I hope I've contributed something to the beauty blogosphere, as you guys have all taught me so much.

Are any of your favourites unappreciated by the beauty world?
